Interior design students researched nationally award-winning design projects and identified the key principles and elements that made them successful. Then each group created an abstract 6鈥 x 6鈥 cube that represents those elements through their own design interpretation. This project connects research, creativity, and hands-on learning in the studio.
Assistant Professor Cyndi Parker's students were recently able to see first-hand the construction of a new house in its rough-in phase. This is especially valuable because our freshmen Interior Design students have been learning how to read and draw floor plans throughout the semester and a construction site visit like this allows them to see the real-world application of what they are putting on paper!
Students are being introduced to the process of felting using wool fibers, water, and friction in Assistant Professor Fulton's Textiles for Interiors course.
I chose CAAD at 国产BT because I鈥檝e wanted to work as an interior designer ever since I was young! I had taken a few architecture courses in high school, which made me put more thought into my decision. However, as soon as I toured the interior design program here, I knew this was what I was supposed to do, and have loved it ever since!
After I toured 国产BT I knew it was home. There is so much SEC passion, and the people here are so kind.

Three students majoring in interior design at Mississippi State University were recently honored with the Hospitality Industry Network, or NEWH, scholarships.
Junior Evelyn R. Fioranelli of Cleveland, senior Gina H. Novello of Jackson, New Jersey, and senior Gabriella M. Sutherland of Jackson were among 10 recipients honored by the Sunshine Chapter this year, which includes central Florida and Mississippi.
The built environment has always been important to me, as well as being able to pursue interdisciplinary approaches in design. The program CAAD offered allowed me to experience both traditional and contemporary design practices, in addition to offering a very challenging studio environment that I knew would push me to be the best I could be鈥攂oth in individual projects, as well as collaborative ones.
